SITUATIONAL AND STRATEGIC ANALYSIS TO PROTECT RANCHING AND RANGELANDS IN CALIFORNIA
 
The future of both California's ranching heritage and its biodiversity depends on the preservation of the state's critical rangeland habitats. CapLog recently worked with an international environmental organization and ranchers to explore how market, policy and other strategies might best move us toward meeting this important goal.
ECONOMIC AND MARKET REPORT EXAMINING HOW CHINESE DEMAND FOR LUXURY SEAFOOD WILL IMPACT MEXICO'S ARTISANAL FISHERIES
This report (available as a full report in English and a presentation in Spanish) examines the impacts of China’s luxury seafood demand on one of China’s growing trade partners: Mexico. Over the past decade many of Mexico’s artisanal fisheries have been transformed by rising prices for marine species destined for China’s dinner tables. Despite the scale of this trade, there is little available data or analyses of the impact of China’s luxury seafood demand on Mexico’s coastal economies and ecosystems. This paper aims to fill that gap by looking at five Mexican luxury seafood exports that have been most impacted by Chinese demand: sea cucumber, shark fin, geoduck, swim bladder and jellyfish. 
MARKET ASSESSMENT AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT OF A SUSTAINABLE CALIFORNIA SEAFOOD PRODUCT
In close collaboration with the Fort Bragg Groundfish Association, CapLog assessed existing markets and market drivers to help fishermen and local processors develop products for school districts and other institutional buyers. The project focused on creating increased value for fishermen who participate in conservation-minded fishing practices in the waters off of Northern California.
DOCK- AND FARM-TO-PLATE TRACEABILITY, MARKETING AND PROCESS RE-ENGINEERING FOR FARMERS, FISHERMEN, DISTRIBUTORS, RESTAURANTS AND FOOD SERVICE PROVIDERS
CapLog worked with Trace and Trust, Inc. to provide the technology, strategic consulting and process re-engineering to enable a well-respected national food processor and distributor based in San Diego to provide full source-to-plate transparency of its restaurant deliveries. The consulting enabled the distributor to adapt its processes and technologies to ensure full traceability, accountability and marketing across all of its ecommerce, on-site retail, rewholesale and restaurant sales.
